Hello, everyone!
The past two weeks have been quite productive, even though I spent much more time at the computer than I had originally planned. Overall, I’m in a good rhythm, and I’ve managed to make progress on several fronts at once: from pure coding to scriptwriting.
I’ll start with what I mentioned in my last report - the evening event. I’m happy to report that work on the dialogues is completely finished. The text has been proofread, all branching paths have been written out, and now this part is ready to move on to the visual content creation phase. Now my task is to turn these words into high-quality images, so my render computer will be running at full capacity in the near future.
At the same time, I decided to focus on the technical side of things, specifically the game engine. I concentrated on the interface for the dialogue section. Based on your feedback and suggestions, I’ve implemented new functionality that fixes a number of issues with text display. This update is designed to make the dialogue experience feel more natural and comfortable. I won’t go into the mechanics in detail so as not to spoil the surprise - you’ll be able to see all the changes for yourself in the game.
As for new content, I’ve started writing the script for the next event and the scene in Jessica’s room. It’s a fairly low-key part of the story, but it has its own intriguing moments. Plus, Sam’s involvement adds a certain spice to the situation, which makes the writing process very enjoyable. So far, about 30% of this event is complete.
I also go back from time to time to planning the first day in the new city, where the main character will end up with Sam. You know, sometimes an idea just pops into my head, and I can’t ignore it. This time, a few interesting twists and details came to mind regarding the meeting with a new character and the little adventures that go along with it. I’ve already incorporated these changes into the overall plan to keep the event’s structure cohesive.
And the last thing I’ve been working on for the past three days is automation. I decided to dive deeper into learning the scripting language of my 3D editor, and I have to admit that my own progress is surprising me. Now, writing a script of up to 1,000 lines takes me only 3–4 hours. Over these three days, I’ve created 12 new scripts ranging from 100 to 1,200 lines. They mainly deal with character posing: working with poses, precise object orientation in the scene, and other technical details. This will make my life a lot easier in the future, since routine operations will now be performed much faster.
All in all, things are moving along as usual. I’m a bit worn out by the technical side of things, but I’m very pleased with the direction the project is taking.
I hope you all have a great week, and I’ll see you in the next post!
