DESCRIPTION

Hey everyone, Instant Dungeons 1.3.1 is now available.

This update is focused on making generated dungeons feel more complete right away. Until now, Instant Dungeons has been good at quickly creating the structure of a dungeon: floors, walls, doors, token vision, and scene setup. But the result could still feel a bit bare until you spend time dressing the map by hand.

Version 1.3.1 is a big step toward improving that.

The three main additions are:

- Terrain underlays for generated dungeon scenes

- A built-in object library in the Instant Dungeons core pack

- Room auto-furnishing with the new "Populate Rooms" option

Terrain Underlays

Generated dungeons can now have a terrain surface behind them.

You can choose the terrain in the Generator, repaint it later with the Editor Tool, and even use regular tiles or tiles from custom packs as the terrain surface if you want.

This makes a big difference when editing maps afterward, because floors no longer sit over a blank background. If you erase, reshape, or expand part of the dungeon, there is already a useful terrain layer underneath it.

Built-In Room Objects

The Instant Dungeons core pack now includes built-in room objects, so you can furnish scenes manually without needing to import custom assets first.

The current set includes beds, bookshelves, shelving, seating, containers, desks, altars, lighting, and a few other useful pieces.

Populate Rooms

The new "Populate Rooms" option can furnish generated rooms automatically using the built-in object set.

This is still experimental and very much a work in progress, but I think it is already useful as a starting point. You can let it place a first pass, then jump into the Editor Tool and move things around from there.

That workflow is important to me: the generator should help you get started quickly, but you should still be able to shape the final result yourself.

What Instant Dungeons Already Does:

For anyone who has not used it before, Instant Dungeons is a procedural dungeon generator and editor built directly for Foundry VTT.

It can generate complete Foundry dungeon scenes in seconds, including walls, doors, lighting, token vision, and scene setup. You can tune the layout with controls for room count, density, room size, symmetry, floor style, wall style, seed, and now entry direction.

After generation, the Editor Tool lets you continue editing the dungeon directly on the canvas: paint or erase rooms, fill larger areas with rectangle fills, place doors, rebuild walls, repaint terrain, and place or move room objects.

It also supports custom asset packs, including imported Dungeondraft packs, if you want to use your own floors, walls, doors, tiles, or terrain.---

Thank you all for supporting this work. Patreon support is what lets me keep building these modules full-time and keep improving them at this pace.

As usual, you can install or update Instant Dungeons from Foundry by searching for "Augur" or "Instant Dungeons" in the Add-on Modules browser.
