Augur: Sci-Fi Update Released: Ships, NPCs, Factions, and Editable Orbits
1 / 2
DESCRIPTION

This is one of the biggest updates I’ve made so far. Ships, NPCs, factions, and sites can now become part of the same connected sci-fi campaign, with ships and sites orbiting planets, stars, and other points of interest.

You can create a ship, pick from included ship models and color variants, place it into a star system, and connect it to the rest of your campaign. NPCs can be generated with portraits, roles, personality traits, and compact story prompts, then assigned as crew, residents, employees, contacts, rivals, or whatever else your campaign needs.

Factions work the same way. A faction can be based on a planet, own a ship, employ a pilot, connect to a site, or become part of a larger web of allies and enemies. The connection system is now bidirectional, and each side can have its own label and category, so the same relationship can read naturally from both perspectives.

That means a ship is no longer just a marker on the map. It can have a crew, an owner, a home port, a faction affiliation, and a place in the story.

Planets can now have custom eccentric orbits, ships can orbit independently, and ships or sites can attach to existing orbital paths. Sites can orbit too, which means you can use them for stations, wrecks, satellites, space hulks, listening posts, or any other point of interest that belongs in space rather than on a surface.

The orbit tool is much faster to use now: click an object, drag the orbit into place, adjust the path, and start the animation. You can also change speed and direction for individual objects, which makes system scenes feel a lot more dynamic.

There are also several smaller improvements in this release, including better Nexus placement tools, custom star images, visibility controls, safer remove/delete options for placed markers, and default tabs for dossiers. Please make sure to update both Augur: Sci-Fi and Augur: Nexus modules; also, as always, back up your game worlds before any major update.

I also want to be clear that the new portraits, ship models, and faction badges are licensed artist-made assets, not AI art.
