Genesis v1.03 — Critical Stability & Recovery Update
1 / 3
DESCRIPTION

This update is one of the most important Genesis stability updates released so far. A number of critical issues affecting launch stability, character select crashes, mod conflict detection, and recovery handling have now been fully addressed and redesigned from the ground up.

The biggest focus of this update was eliminating the infinite white screen issue on game launch, preventing crashes on the character select screen, and making Genesis significantly safer when handling installed mods and game file replacements. Alongside these fixes, Genesis now includes smarter detection systems, automatic self-healing recovery logic, safer installation workflows, and new troubleshooting tools designed to prevent corruption before it happens.

This update also introduces major improvements to the Conflict Scanner, external mod detection, unpacked GFX validation, startup sanity checks, and recovery systems — all aimed at making Genesis more stable, beginner-friendly, and far more resilient across heavily modded WWE 2K19 setups.

Below is the complete list of fixes, protections, recovery systems, and improvements included in this update.

Conflict Scanner — base-vs-mod no longer flagged as conflict

Genesis was wrongly treating intended mod overrides (PerfectPlextra over base PACs, etc.) as critical conflicts. Picking "keep modded version" renamed your base game PACs to .pac.disabled, causing the game to white-screen on launch because chunk0.def still pointed at the missing files. Scanner now only flags mod-vs-mod clashes — the actual ambiguous case.

Install Stock Renders workflow

(Settings → Troubleshooting + setup wizard step). One-time extraction of all 524 stock character-select renders from the packed ltag_typeA/B_win.pac archives into mods\Genesis\renders\…\custom_typea/typeb\ as individual per-slot files. Renames the original packed archives to .pac.bak so the game uses the per-slot files. Auto-regens chunk0.def at the end so no freezes.

Existing user mods are preserved

installer now skips on a per-file basis (anything already in custom_typea/ or custom_typeb/ is left untouched) and migrates legacy custom_type*/ injections forward.

Chunk.def Fix

Mods now go to the top so 2K19's first-match loader picks the modded ch{slot}.pac / render before falling back to vanilla, matching CCT's behavior and eliminating the mixed stock-entrance / modded-in-ring situation.

Auto-Heal on Startup

Every Genesis launch now walks pac/, finds any .pac.disabled files, and renames them back to .pac (only when no active version exists). Green toast confirms when files are restored. Existing affected users self-heal on next launch.

Alternate Attire Fix

Stock attire 1 no longer disappears when injecting attire 2. The "collapse to lowest free index" optimizer was claiming attire slot 0 (stock attire 1) for new attire-2 injections because stock files live in the base game, not the mods folder. Now treats slot 0 as occupied for every default-roster character so the user's attire 2 stays at index 1 and stock attire 1 remains alongside it.

Manual Recovery Tools (Settings → General → Troubleshooting)

Fix White Screen on Game Launch button. One-click manual scan that renames .pac.disabled back to .pac. Safe to run anytime, does nothing if nothing's broken. Yellow accent so it reads as a recovery action.

Smart Detection - External-Install Detection (CCT-friendly)

If you have SuperString / PerfectPlextra / Universal Attire Unlock already installed via CCT or another tool, Genesis now detects the existing folder and shows "Installed (external)" instead of offering to overwrite. The Install button stays hidden. Genesis hands off to your existing setup. Marker-based "Genesis installed this" vs sentinel-based "something installed this" are now tracked separately.

Deleted Markers Stay Deleted

Previously: deleting mod_name.installed would cause Genesis to silently recreate it on next launch from sentinel-file detection. Now: the marker is your decision. Genesis respects deletes and never re-marks.

Mod Install Safety - Overlay Install Confirmation

Before installing any overlay-root mod (Dark Mode, Disable Menu Thanos, Unpacked GFX), Genesis shows a warning dialog listing what's about to happen — files will overwrite base game folders, with backups going to genesis_backups//. User has to confirm.

Unpacked GFX Crash Prevention

The Unpacked Arena GFX mod retires 8 packed ltag_*.pac files so the unpacked replacements take effect — but if your zip was incomplete, that broke the game on match-start. Genesis now validates the unpacked archive BEFORE retiring any originals. Required sentinel directories with minimum file counts:

…/anime/locator (≥ 20 files)

…/anime/match_result (≥ 5)

…/anime/nameplate (≥ 5)

…/texture/copyright, matchcard_bg, ppv_logo, replay (≥ 1 each)

If anything is missing, packed ltag files stay in place and the game keeps working.

Conflict Scanner — DPI-aware sizing

The dialog now auto-fits to your usable screen area (Windows work-area API). On laptops and high-DPI displays, it no longer overflows below the taskbar — Resolve and Close buttons are always reachable.

Settings → General → Troubleshooting card

New dedicated section with the recovery buttons above. Clearly separated from regular preferences so users know what's a setting vs. what's a recovery action.
