For years now we have been working on an audience segmentation tool that would allow the people who use PlayTracker for market research to gain unparalleled insight into the market niches that are relevant to them.
After all, if you are developing an exciting new metroidvania game, it is hardly relevant to you how many billions of dollars Fortnite is making - you care about the target audience for your game. That is what we set out to do with Lens, and we think we've finally done it.
Create a precise audience segment through filters like game ownership, sub-genre affinity, playtime, achievement completion, and more. Explore your audience segment via cross-platform graphs and trending game lists, or apply it to a game to see how they intersect. The possibilities are endless.
To celebrate this launch and our Gamescom visit, Lens is available for free to all users until September 3rd, so you can go try it now even if you are not a Patron.
More info about Lens can be found on this landing page: https://playtracker.net/lens/.
Changes to Patreon tiers
This release also marks changes to our Patron tiers as Lens launches as its own separate product targeting businesses, and some benefits are moving up a tier. With these changes we are targeting industry professionals who are increasingly using PlayTracker Insight for market research and are willing to pay more money for better data that makes them more money, while keeping things the same for regular users.
Current Patrons will be "grandfathered in" for as long as they keep their pledge active. That means if you are a Legendary ($15) tier Patron you get access to Lens and do not need to subscribe to anything, and if you are an Epic ($5) tier Patron you keep everything you've had so far even though some of it is now exclusive to the Legendary ($15) tier.
You can find the new breakdown of benefits per tier, as well as our new packages targeting businesses on this landing page: https://playtracker.net/pricing/
We will continue to respond to requests from academics and indie developers that need access to our data, but cannot afford it right now.
As always, thank you for your support and being with us on this journey.
