See, the original plan was to go out and get some breakfast at a place a couple blocks from there. The thing is… well, it's cold and rainy out there and it's warm and comfy in here so… “fuck it! Let's order something for delivery” they thought.
So Zara reached for her phone that fell in front of the bed last night and tried to make her order while RJ teased her by gently pushing her playfully trying to distract her.
Fun fact. This scene has a really dumb source of inspiration and if anyone can guess it they'll get a 😎 emoji from me.
I think I had designed RJ’s bedroom for something before, don't remember what, but I did redesign it a bit here because I couldn't find the original one, and it turned out to be something of a challenge.
I see RJ as something of a normal guy. whatever that means. And turns out I have troubles in getting myself to understand the normals’ mind.
At first I wanted it to be a poster for some in-universe movie or sports team and I designed a couple ones but It didn't feel right, it didn't feel real or mundane enough.
So I used a real one and I decided on Jaws for 2 reasons. 1: It's a cool poster. But the thing that sold me on it is that I came up with a story for it.
He just sort of has it.
He bought it at a flea market from an old woman who was just trying to get rid of the things of her ex husband who had just ran away with one of her friends and neither the woman nor RJ knew that what was being sold was an original print from the original release of the movie, so it ended up being pretty cheap for him.
He still doesn't know it btw. But it has to be worth something.
We of course also have some family portraits. We have seen RJ’s parents before of course but this is the first time we see his brother and look, they're so cute and Tiny!
There's also a photo when he went hiking with his brother and his back then neighbor and current sister in law.
They and Laura of course used to be RJ’s old clique before the band. Laura of course joined a bike gang and disappeared and RJ wasn't comfortable being a third wheel. But there was also some drama.
RJ doesn't like to talk about it but I will… eventually.
And finally of course, We'vr already seen it but there's a photo of him and his girl. I haven't decided if this picture happens before or after Zara and RJ's relationship becomes public (Or more like after they find out it already is). But the fact that the photo of their date I posted earlier is still in the cardboard frame suggests that that date happened not so long ago. Maybe this is the morning after. Or maybe he just hasn't gone to buy a new frame.
Fun Fact, This is actually the second version I made of this "Morning" picture. And what I mean with that is that I finished a version of it, didn't like the background composition so I went back and made it again.
Here's the original one. As you can see, one of the portraits originally was obstructed and there was a different poster on the wall.
At first I wasn't going to put that much effort into the portraits but then I did, so you can see why I decided to change the placement.
As for the Poster, originally I thought of making a fake poster for “La Notte Dentata” An in universe horror cult film I may have mentioned before somewhere.
I was trying to channel the Amadeus poster with more of a Saúl Bass-ish style when designing it. I'm partially happy with the result. But also, I made it quickly so it could be better…
In the end I decided to change it because a real world one for this is more fun, and also because after thinking about it, I don't think RJ likes Horror Movies. And it's not that they scare him that much, I just don't think he’d have the poster for one in his bedroom.
Maybe if it was like the in-universe version of the shining or something but La Notte Dentata is supposed to be obscure in universe. Or who knows maybe it is valuable and he's saving the poster for his cousin while he moves or something.
A final outtake is that RJ’s brother was also going to be a bear at first. But I decided at the last minute to change that. Just to mix things up a bit. For fun. (I’m spontaneous)
It does become a bit obvious in the hiking picture which makes more sense like this, but let’s say it’s because he does have a lot of bear in him.

A thing I wasn't able to save in the second version was the earth globe. And that's basically out of pure laziness honestly. That's why it got replaced with the very copy-and-paste-able Pink Floyd poster. I was kind of tired by that point. Lmao. And also the license plate.
Usually I make the van plates generic (and I think I’ve never put the same number twice on them) but in this case it is clearly based in the Mexico City plates from 2019 I think. That one I drew over the wall and on on its own file so I can’t really post a close up here lol
