People often imagine that when it’s time to move on, you simply pack your bags and go.
The reality looks a little more like this.
Suitcases in the saloon.Black bags everywhere.Cupboards half emptied.Important documents mixed in with random boat parts.A cat trying to sleep through the chaos as if none of it concerns him. 😹
The funny thing is that whilst we’re preparing for one of the biggest changes we’ve ever made as a family, life aboard doesn’t stop.
The boat still needs maintenance.Videos still need editing.Content still needs creating.The boys still need schooling.Clients still need coaching.Meals still need cooking.Laundry still needs doing.
And all of that is happening whilst we’re slowly sorting through seven years of memories packed into every locker, cupboard and hidden corner of Holly Blue.
Every day feels like two steps forward and one step back.
One minute we’re feeling organised and productive, the next we’re sat looking at a pile of belongings wondering how on earth we accumulated so much stuff whilst living on a 42-foot boat! 😆
What we’re discovering is that leaving a liveaboard life isn’t just about packing possessions.
It’s about sorting through seven years of adventures, challenges, friendships, lessons, dreams and memories.
It’s exciting.It’s exhausting.It’s emotional.
And we’re getting very close now to sharing exactly why we’re doing it.
Trust us when we say there’s a reason for all this madness… and we can’t wait to tell you all about it.
For now though, it’s back to sorting, organising, boat jobs and trying not to lose anything important amongst the chaos.
